Wentz will be an Eagle for much of the foreseeable future. His new extension is for four years and $128 million dollars, $107 of that is guaranteed. This keeps him in the City of Brotherly Love until at least 2024. Wentz has said he is happy a deal is done. “From the moment I got drafted I knew this place was special.” Indeed the North Dakota native has made home in the home of the cheesesteak.

Philadelphia is in win now mode. The signing of Wentz makes it clear he is their guy and the face of the franchise. Long gone is the security blanket of playoff savior Nick Foles. The franchise is all in on the Wentz wagon pulling their start studded offense to the promise land.

When all is said and done, this is a huge gamble for Philadelphia. While you need a competent signal caller in today’s NFL, betting it all on a player who is often injured can be dangerous. Wentz has missed time the last two seasons with both an ACL tear and a back injury. But if it works out it will be worth it. The Eagles have the type of weapons on offense that will allow them to contend for years to come. So here’s to hoping, Philly.
