Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups
What have we learned after three weeks of play in the NFL? If you are like most of us, you have learned who, on your roster, is not performing. There have been several injuries, and several players are not getting the playing time that was expected. Here are a few players you should be able to pick up in your fantasy leagues.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, New York Jets, 12.4% owned
Fitzpatrick had a pretty good game, completing 35 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns. The downside is that he also threw three interceptions.
Fitzpatrickâs next six games are at Miami, against Washington, at New England, at Oakland, home against Jacksonville and Buffalo. The Dolphins gave up almost 300 yards to Tyrod Taylor, the Redskins gave up almost 300 yards to a reeling Giants team, the Raiders gave up over 340 yards against Josh McCown, Jacksonville gave up over 350 yards to Tom Brady, and Buffalo gave up almost 300 yards to Ryan Tannehill. Even the Patriots gave up 242 yards to Blake Bortles. These could be some good matchups for Fitzpatrick.
Karlos Williams, RB, Buffalo Bills, 23.6% owned
Williams had 12 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. LeSean McCoy was the only other back to have double-digit carries with 11, but only gained 16 yards. McCoy did catch one pass, a 10-yard touchdown. Williams did not figure in the passing game at all. However, with his success on the ground and the lack of production from McCoy on similar touches could mean more carries for Williams next week.
The Giants only gave up 88 rushing yards this week, but the Titans gave up over 130 yards, and the Jaguars gave up 125 yards. Williams could have a couple of good games over the next four weeks.
Cecil Shorts, WR, Houston Texans, 6.8% owned
Shorts has been catching some balls lately. He has yet to reach the end zone this season, but he has managed to score 9.4 or better each week in PPR leagues.
Shorts could be facing some favorable matchups in the next four or five weeks. Houston plays at Atlanta, home against Indianapolis, at Jacksonville, at Miami, and home against Tennessee. He should start finding the end zone in the coming weeks.
Coby Fleener, TE, Indianapolis Colts, 17.2% owned
Feelner may be picking up some of the slack left by an under performing Dwayne Allen. He had four receptions for 51 yards against Tennessee and he may be getting more targets in the next couple of weeks.
The Jaguars have the highest rank against tight ends of the next four opponents that the Colts will be facing. After the Jags, the Colts play at Houston, then home against New England and New Orleans. Look for Feelner to get some red zone looks soon.
