Thursday NHL One-Liners

The Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers got back to their winning ways Wednesday night. Vancouver took down the Edmonton Oilers 5-4, while New York shutout the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0. The league gets back to a full slate of games today and through the weekend. Here’s a few tidbits to keep in mind heading into tonight’s action.

  • The NHL has postponed Friday nights game in Buffalo, between the Sabres and Rangers. The Buffalo region has seen 6+ feet of snow in the last few days. No make up date has been announced.

– Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis has a blood clot in one of his lungs, and is expected to miss at least six months. “This is very new news, this is tough news,” coach Mike Johnston said Wednesday. “He’s an inspirational leader, a great voice in the room.”

  • In a weird story, Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and claims that his parents are responsible for helping lead him “financially astray.” His parents bought a house in Manhattan Beach, California, and also borrowed $15 million of Johnson’s earnings.

  • Chicago Blackhawks winger Andrew Shaw is out for tonight’s game against Calgary, with an upper-body injury.
