Only two games last night, both where the away team shined. The NHL gets back to its full slate of games tonight (10 games). Here’s a few tidbits to keep in mind heading into tonight’s action.
- League officials suspended New York Rangers defenseman John Moore, yesterday for five games without pay. The suspension is in lieu of his illegal hit to the head of Minnesota Wild forward Erik Haula. Moore will lose $51,859.75 in salary that will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
-
Craig Smith scored twice to edge the Predators over the Oilers 4-1 last night. Nashville improved its record to 6-1-2 on the year, and now have a 3 point lead in the central division.
-
Not to be out done, Justin Abdelkader scored twice in the final 20 minutes to put the Red Wings over the Capitals. Abdelkader broke a 2-2 tie when he took a drop pass from Pavel Datsyuk, and beat Braden Holtby from the left circle at 10:34, for his fifth goal of the season.
-
The race for Connor McDavid is heating up as both the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes look poised to bottom feed all season long. Neither team has a home win, which has both fan bases embracing the tank.
-
The Hurricanes get back their Captain Eric Staal, as he was reinstated from the injured reserve.
-
Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug will miss at least two weeks, after he suffered a broken finger during Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild at TD Garden.
