An incredible finish to one of the most highlighted seasons in history on the PGA TOUR!

Jordan Spieth made this year very exciting for sports fans all over the world, bringing a new edge to golf with his youth, competitiveness, and ultimate winning ways which was proven in his play at the final tournament of the calendar year. Spieth won the hearts of fans, professionals, and media alike and capped it all off with a four-shot victory at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, winning the season-long race for the 2015 FedEx Cup. The Texan picked up five wins this season that included two major championships, the Masters and the U.S. Open, and becoming the youngest FedEx Cup Champion at 22 years old. With more than $22 million earned in 2015 alone, Spieth is back on top of the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), and will likely win the PGA TOUR Player of the Year award later this year.
In the 2015 FedEx Cup Playoffs, all four tournaments were won by a player in their twenties; Jason Day (27), Rickie Fowler (26), and Spieth (22). So it’s time to forget about the past and look to the future because the game of golf is in good hands with the talent we’ve had the privilege of witnessing. The youth are taking over, in a good way of course.
Notables:
Jason Day had an incredible season of his own, especially in the latter half of 2015. The Australian finished the playoff finale tied for 10th at two-under, dropping him back to No. 3 in the FedEx Cup standings despite winning two of the four events, the Barclays and the BMW Championship. Definitely a tough pill to swallow, but the 27-year-old should be proud of what he accomplished this season; his lifelong dream of becoming a Major champion. An achievement that supersedes the struggles of his past and looking to the future with the support of family and friends. He’ll now prepare himself to represent Team INTERNATIONAL at the President’s Cup!

Henrik Stenson finished in the runner-up position in the first two tournaments of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and was on the verge of becoming only the second player to win two FedEx Cups. However, a disappointing 72-72 weekend after shooting 63-68 was not enough to win during the surge of Spieth in the final round. The Swede is a playoff-golfer and his ball-striking ability is certainly fit for this time of year when every shot counts, but for now he’ll have to take a step back and enjoy the season he had before getting ready for the new year. He finished his 2014-15 PGA TOUR season with a 51-foot putt for birdie!
Fowler didn’t have the best of final rounds at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola on Sunday afternoon, carding two bogeys, one double-bogey, and zero birdies. He may not have fully shown his frustration on the golf course, but his fan base certainly did the reacting for him.

Shot of the Week:
Spieth earns the shot of the week honors with this 47-foot putt on the 11th hole for birdie. The shot of the week is not normally a putt, but this putt put the eventual champion two shots ahead of the pack. If he had settled for par, who knows what would’ve transpired. His reaction, along with Stenson’s, is priceless! Take a look:
Wow, Jordan Spieth. 47 feet. Dead center. #QuickHits http://t.co/MWX1LVXocx
