The stars aligned in Dallas for their first home win in over a month
With the odds stacked against them, and having one of the Western Conference’s best teams, Dallas stepped up. Down early, and heading into the third period down 2-1. Head coach Lindy Ruff must have given some speech in the locker room. When the third period started the Stars looked like a completely different team. In a span of 53 seconds, the game went from 2-1 Ducks, to 4-2 Stars.
After that, Dallas never looked back scoring another pair, and ending the game 6-3. Ruff was quoted after the game saying, “At home, we’re going to have some favorable matchups, and hopefully we can turn that our way just with the depth of scoring on our team.” Many, like myself, picked this game the other way around, but those in Dallas are finally happy to see a W put up at home.
Full slate of games on this Eve of Thanksgiving
The only inactive teams tonight are: Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, and the Vancouver Canucks.
Out East we have some great contests
Pittsburgh hosts the Maple Leafs, in hopes of regaining ground as top dog in the Eastern Conference. While, the Bruins look to keep the pressure on traveling to new Eastern Conference member Detroit. The worst team in the NHL Buffalo, hosts the Canadians in hopes of finally turning the season around. They have to go on a winning streak at some point… right?
Over in the Western Conference all the top teams are in action
The best team in the West, the Chicago Blackhawks, are looking to extend their NHL point lead, over the border in Calgary. Cory Crawford also looks to extend his record for most wins in the NHL this season to 17. One of the hottest teams in the NHL as of late, St. Louis (8-1-1 in last 10) is on the road in the Mile High City, as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. This is my pick as game of the night, as both teams are looking to gain ground in the West.
The Battle for California
The Los Angeles Kings continue their road stint, coming off an overtime win in Vancouver, travel to San Jose to take on one of the most high powered offenses in the NHL. Backup, turned starter Ben Scrivens, looks to continue his domination between the pipes and keep his NHL best GAA after tonight’s game. If Anze Kopitar or Brad Richards have anything to say about it, it will be an awesome game.
