Playing against an all-star cast on one of the most challenging golf courses on the seasonal calendar, Shane Lowry found a little luck down the final stretch at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

The Irishman won the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational for his third victory as a professional. The tournament is co-sanctioned with the PGA Tour, so Lowry‘s win also counts as his first on the Tour.

The 28-year-old European Tour professional won by two strokes over Bubba Watson and four strokes over Justin Rose, who shot an incredible round of 63 on Saturday, but followed with a disappointing two-over final round of 72. Lowry closed with a birdie on the 18th hole after hitting an impressive approach shot from the fairway’s left-side rough.

The Bridgestone Invitational is the third leg of the four tournaments put on by the International Federation of PGA Tours and only 80 of the best golfers were invited; three of which were unable to start and/or finish. The HSBC Champions will be the final event of the year hosted in Shanghai, China, where Bubba Watson will have the opportunity to run for a second-straight Old Tom Morris Cup.
