The Super Bowl Celebration is over for the New England Patriots and their owner Robert Kraft. Today the well known head of the NFL’s most successful franchise was arrested in Jupiter, Florida. This comes on the heels of Kraft’s team capturing their 6th NFL title.
The Latest
Kraft was arrested early Friday morning and charged with two counts of solicitation of prostitution. The charges stem from Kraft being picked up in a sting operation by the Jupiter, Florida police. Furthermore, officials from the department confirmed there was an ongoing investigation into human trafficking and money laundering inside several Florida massage parlors. This investigation culminated in the morning raid that led to Kraft’s arrest.
What This Means Going Forward
This revelation is sure to acquire some interest from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Furthermore, it can be assumed as the investigation continues Kraft could be subject to punishment. Not only from law enforcemen, but the league as well. After all former Panthers Owner Jerry Richardson was forced to resign after only allegations of misconduct surfaced. What makes Krafts dilemma even more unfortunate is his alliance with Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill on the issue of criminal justice reform. He is a major contributor and therefore, these allegations can only compromise Kraft’s standing within the movement.
A Bad Look For An Already Controversial League
The NFL has an image problem and this isn’t helping. However, they have done nothing to seem empathetic to half of their fan base, women. Although, there have been multiple cases of players getting second chances after being suspected of domestic violence. This latest incident may be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Although, they have survived bad PR before. Can the shield possibly comeback from this? We’ll see in the days and weeks to come.
