After 18 long months without Tim Tebow, the most famous free agent may be about to return to the NFL. Tebow was spotted working out with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, which has sparked a series of rumors that the northeastern team are thinking about adding him to their roster.
The Eagles are the first NFL team to work out the 27-year-old since he was cut by the New England Patriots in August 2013. Tebow was hired as a commentator for ESPN’s SEC Network at the end of the year, but has not played in an NFL regular season game since December 2012. It’s hard for many fans of the ex-Florida Gators quarterback to see Tebow struggle to make it in the league but despite his absence Tebow has not spent much time out of sight.
During the last six months, Tebow has been seen completing a number of NFL exercises in order to show coaches that he has what it takes to play at the top level.
“I feel great, I’m feeling the strongest, healthiest… throwing the best I ever have,” he said last summer. “So, I’m just really excited about the improvement.”
Leading quarterback coach Tom House confirmed on Monday that Tebow is NFL ready.
“What amazes me is this young man, with no job prospects, has prepared just as hard as he would if he were the No. 1 quarterback for an NFL team,” House told Albert Breer of NFL Media. “He’s busted his butt. He spins the ball better than he did and he’s much more accurate than he was. I think he’s ready.
Tebow did not sign any paperwork after his workout with the Eagles but it is believed by the media that the Eagles will sign the ex-Patriots quarterback if they can move their third-string quarterback Matt Barkley.
