Oregon’s QB Marcus Mariota has decided to come back for his junior year after a sluggish sophomore season. The Oregon Ducks finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and 12th in the BCS poll.
Mariota’s sophomore campaign was almost as great as his freshman season, but let the stats do the talking. In his freshman season, he threw the ball for 2677 yards, 32 passing TD’s, 6 INT, and had a completion percentage of 68.5. As for his sophomore season, he threw for 3412 yards, 30 TDS, 4 INT and a had a completion percentage of 63.1, which is down 5.4 percent from last year.
Since Oregon is known for its high tempo offense, lets take a look at his rushing yards through out the last two seasons. During his freshman season, Mariota gained more yards on the ground (752) than his sophomore season(582). But, he was still able to accumulate more rushing TD’s this season(9) than he did last season (5).
“It is an honor to be a student at the University of Oregon and to have the opportunity to represent our institution on the football field alongside my teammates,” Mariota said in a interview. The Oregon Ducks are currently predicted to play against Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 30.
