Week 10 Schedule
TheAOSN.com picks:
KANSAS CITY
Buffalo still faces running back health issues, and Kansas City has been impressive during its 3-game win streak. Jamaal Charles is due a breakout game, and with Travis Kelce becoming more of an offensive target, things could open up for Charles.
DETROIT
This could end up being a low-scoring game between two of the best defenses in the league this year. Miami’s hopes will fall on Ryan Tannehill‘s shoulders, as Detroit’s run defense is stifling. Matthew Stafford will be thrilled to see Calvin Johnson return, and with Golden Tate in great form and a great pass-catching backfield, they should be able to stretch Miami’s 2nd-ranked pass defense.
NEW ORLEANS
Uncharacteristically, Colin Kaepernick struggled in the face of a pass rush against St. Louis last week. While New Orleans’ defense is not much to write home about, they can muster up pressure when necessary. Drew Brees has fantastic home form, and that should tilt things in his team’s favor here, especially with Jimmy Graham starting to hit his stride after an injury-enforced absence.
PITTSBURGH
The hottest team in the league comes up against a team that has lost 8 straight. The emergence of rookie WR Martavis Bryant has kept defenses honest against Antonio Brown and opened up the whole field for Ben Roethlisberger (12 TDs in the last 2 weeks). This could get ugly, and fast.
ATLANTA
Tampa will be reverting back to Josh McCown at QB for this divisional matchup, with Bobby Rainey and much-heralded rookie Charles Sims picking up the slack for Doug Martin. With the 31st and 32nd-ranked defenses on show, this could become a sloppy shootout. Atlanta should emerge victorious, having already thumped Tampa 56-14 earlier in the season.
BALTIMORE
Though beaten convincingly by Pittsburgh last week in primetime, Baltimore still remain in the playoff hunt, and will be looking to right the ship against a Tennessee team that has failed to pick up on the momentum of a solid opening week win. Joe Flacco has struggled a bit of late in their back-to-back losses, but he has the capability to manage this game to lead Baltimore to a win on the legs of Justin Forsett. Or Lorenzo Taliaferro. Or Bernard Pierce.
DENVER
Is there really any way at all to fancy a winless team’s chances against a Peyton Manning-led team the week after Denver was routed by New England? There may have been some glimmer of hope for Oakland after they fought to keep the game close against Seattle last week, but even that was after falling behind by 21 early. This is another one that could get ugly.
ARIZONA
The Arizona train just keeps rolling. Coming off an impressive win at Dallas and with Carson Palmer having signed a new contract, morale should be at a high in Phoenix. St. Louis’ defense was immense in the win over San Francisco last week, and they will need to keep up the good form. This could be a good close game, but give Arizona the edge on form and with the home advantage.
SEATTLE
The defending Super Bowl champions need to buckle down and find some consistency. The injury bug has not helped, but they should have few issues with the lineup this week.
CHICAGO
With both teams coming off of their bye weeks, Chicago face a stiff test as they travel to Green Bay. Jay Cutler has been inconsistent but can still give Chicago a remote chance at the playoffs with a win. Assuming Aaron Rodgers plays well, the Chicago offense will need to match every move and hope the defense comes up with some stops. It’s very possible. This will be our upset of the week.
PHILADELPHIA
The “Sanchize” gets another crack at NFL stardom. After notching his first win since December 9th, 2012 as a member of the New York Jets, Mark Sanchez looks to keep Philadelphia on top of the NFC East. Jeremy Maclin has also been a huge contributor, receiving for over 150 yards in two straight games.
