The NBA Finals are off and running after a controversial game 1. Game two while not without its controversy was a completely different monster than its predecessor. In many ways the second game at Oracle Arena was over just as quickly as it started. Not many experts have given the Cavs even a glimmer of hope to even win a single game against the Warriors. And, after one, Wardell Stephen Curry‘s performance in game 2 its clear why.
NBA Finals Game 2
Cleveland @ Golden State
Game Summary
Tuesday nights game 2 contest between the Cavs and Warriors came down to one thing the lethal shooting of Steph Curry. LeBron James was good Steph was better. James put up a valiant effort as he scored 29 points. However it wasn’t enough to stop the onslaught of long range bombs by number 30 in black. Curry had 33 points, a finals record 9 three pointers in all, 5 of which came in the final stanza. Furthermore another lack luster performance from the Cavs supporting cast pretty much ended Cleveland’s night well ahead of schedule.
After a late Cavs run cut the lead to single digits the Warriors proceeded to step on the gas and run Cleveland right out of the building. Golden State finished the game outscoring their opponents by nine in the quarter. This included a 10-0 stretch that put the game out of reach. The Cavs simply had no answer for the Warriors attack. Every time Cleveland made it close Golden State stretched it back out until it was stretched for good.
Cavs Outgunned
As far as the positives for the Cavaliers goes there weren’t many. They missed open shot after open shot while Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson reigned threes from every direction. J.R. Smith was atrocious and did nothing to make up for his disastrous game 1. He shot poorly as well as defended poorly but he wasn’t alone. Kyle Korver did next to nothing managing only a single point in 17 minutes of action. Cleveland better hope history rings true and their role players do better at home or this will be a short series.
Final Score Warriors 122 Cavs 103
