Both NBA conference final series have concluded after a couple of huge game 7’s. Both the Celtics and Rockets had a golden opportunity to move on to the NBA finals with a pair of victories on their home courts. However, at the end of the night both team’s anemic shooting performance ended any hopes of that. Furthermore, in the end both games would have results that wouldn’t shock anyone. And he we are on the road to a finals match up we have become very familiar with.
Eastern Conference Finals Game 7
Cleveland @ Boston
Game Summary
Biggest factor of Friday nights battle between the Cavs and Celtics was undoubtedly the dreadful three point shooting of the Celtics and Jeff Green who had 19 big points. LeBron James. had just enough back up from his teammates yet again. Even with J.R. Smith even getting hot late in the game. James and his 35 points, 15 boards and 9 assist was more than enough to keep the Cavs season alive. The Celtics defense was horrendous in the 4th quarter. That coupled with not being able to hit the broad side of a barn, resulted in them never being able to make a serious run at winning the game. Furthermore the Cavs were able to persevere without the help of Allstar Kevin Love. Love was still in the concussion protocol and out for game 7.
Final Score
Boston 79 – Cleveland 87
Western Conference Finals Game 7
Warriors @ Rockets
Game Summary
Two words are all that is needed to sum up this crucial match up. Those two words were Splash Brothers. The Golden State sharpshooters were on point most of the night and blew the Rockets off the court in the 3rd quarter. Steph Curry scored 27 and was on assist shy of a triple double and did enough to counter James Harden. His his counter part Klay Thompson had 19. Harden had 32 points but it wasn’t enough.
The absence of Chris Paul made the biggest impact on Houston’s performance. Without a consistent second threat the Rockets just couldn’t keep up with the defending champs. The Warriors were paced by Kevin Durant‘s 34 point outburst. What was most shocking and hardest to watch is a stretch where the Rockets went 0-27 from deep. Houston could not buy a 3 point basket for most of the 2nd half even though Golden State was without former finals MVP Andre Iguodala.
Final Score
Houston 92 – Golden State 101
