If you missed the American League version of the All-Star vote CLICK HERE
Yesterday it was announced that Mike Trout is currently the leading vote-getter in the American League ballot with a total of 764,007. Even though he has been striking out more than usual this season, this is not surprising at all. Trout has become one of the most popular baseball figures at his young age. So with that being said, who is most deserving of an all star selection in the National League?
When voting for an all star game we have to admit that we have all been bias most of the time when casting in our votes, but in my case, I like to give the players who deserve the vote as well. It’s a tough battle of voting for your favorite players that you see play everyday or the players that are performing the best in the season. It’s the eternal question of “Do I vote for a player for what he could do or for what he has done?”.
This is a tough year to vote for the NL all stars as many of the races are close, so without further delay here are my votes for the National League all-star starters.
1B- Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers
2B- Neil Walker, Pirates
SS- Troy Tulowitzki, Rockies
3B- David Wright, Mets
C- Yadier Molina, Cardinals
LF- Justin Upton, Braves
CF- Charlie Blackmon, Rockies
RF- Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins
DH- Chase Utley, Phillies
As you may see, the NL doesn’t have any players listed under the DH slot while you vote, but someone will eventually have to play there and I chose Utley because he was my odd man out at second base as it was the toughest pick to choose Walker over Utley.
