Manchester City already had a second place finish secured even with a defeat in their last game against the Saints. But that did not stop Manchester city as the Citizens got a 2-0 home victory on Frank Lampard‘s last game in the Premier League before joining New York City F.C.
Frank Lampard put the Citizens ahead in the 31st minute after a ball out wide into the penalty area by James Milner. Frank Lampard struck the ball one time with the inside of his left and beat Southampton’s goalkeeper.
After lots of domination by the Citizens, golden boot winner Sergio Aguero scored his 26th Premier League goal in the 88th minute to seal the victory at home for the Citizens.
Manchester City ended in second with 79 points, eight points behind Chelsea. Also goalkeeper Joe Hart was awarded with the golden glove for most clean sheets in the season.
