With two goals from Yaya Toure and an amazing save from Joe Hart near the end of the game, Manchester City sealed the direct ticket to the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League. Swansea City were not an easy opponent, especially at home and with two of their star players in good form, but Manchester City were able to get the valuable 4-2 victory.
Yaya Toure scored the first goal of the game on a shot near the inside on top of the box beating Lukasz Fabianski, who was fighting for the golden glove of the Premier League. Toure would give the Citizen the 1-0 lead on the 21st minute.
Fifteen minutes later, James Milner scored on a successful counter attack that was led by Sergio Aguero. After an unsuccessful corner kick by Swansea, Frank Lampard cleared the ball and found Sergio Aguero on a run, who took the ball to the final third. Aguero found James Milner on an overlap run, who then took a defender with the outside of his foot and finished with the inside to the second bottom post.
Just before the end of the first half, Swansea found hope and Gylfi Sigurdsson was found outside the eighteen and struck a banger and beat Joe Hart to the wide bottom post.
Nineteen minutes into the second half, Swansea’s star forward Bafetimbi Gomis was found in the air between Manchester City’s center backs. Gomis brought the ball down on a fancy touch with the outside of his foot and shot across to beat Hart, who stood still.
Minute 74′, Yaya Toure took the play into his own hands and dribbled outside of the box and struck again on a similar shot from his previous goal and again beat Fabianski to first post. Fabianski was able to get a hand on it, but it was not enough.
On the 82nd minute Swansea had a corner kick and a good opportunity to tie the game. A header was found near first post, but Joe Hart flew to make the stop and deny Swansea.
In stoppage time, Wilfried Bony, on his return to Swansea, scored the final goal of the game to seal a victory for the Citizens.
With this victory, Manchester City moves up to second place, five points ahead of Arsenal who have one game less. Manchester City will play the last game of the season next weekend at home as they receive Southampton, who have an opportunity to go to the Europa League.
