While unable to come up with a victory in their first outing the Wings were at least competitive against Buffalo. That was not the case on the road against the Knighthawks. The game got away from Philadelphia early and they were just unable to recover suffering their 2nd consecutive loss..
First Half
The story of the first half was the Wings inaccuracy on offense. Although they put up 26 shots, they only came away with 2 goals. Rochester however was able to come up with 8 goals on 33 attempts. Philadelphia was led by Chris Cloutier who had 2 goals in the second period. However that was all the offense the road team could muster in the early going . As they were shut out in the first stanza. The Knighthawks came out firing on all cylinders winning the first period 5-0. Rochester was paced by forward Cody Jamieson who had 2 goals of his own and an assist. At the end of two periods at the Blue Cross Arena the Wings trailed 8-2.
Second Half
The Knighthawks were able to fight off a late rally with some timely play by forward Joe Resetarits. Resetarits knocked in on great play to put the home team up 5 with a little over 7 mins left. He also lead the team with 11 total shots on goal pressure a young Wings team all night. Philadelphia did not go quietly though. They NLL’s latest expansion team scored 7 goals in the second half to make the game much more competitive. Forward Brett Hickey scored 2 goals in the final quarter to bring the Wings within 4.
