The Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 1 of the World Series 3-1 because of Clayton Kershaw, who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 11 batters. Kershaw has always been known for his postseason struggles, but tonight he put all of his critics to rest with a dominating Word Series debut against the best offensive team in Major League Baseball.
This is not ordinary October baseball

Both pitchers coming into the game had to deal with the temperature and heat. The weather is very unusual for October baseball. The temperature reached 103 degrees, a full 9 degrees above the previous World Series high, and this is something no pitcher has faced in the month of October.

Besides Kershaw, Dallas Keuchel pitched a great game for the Astros, going 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3 runs, and striking out 3, but he made a key mistake to Justin Turner. On a 1-2 count, Keuchel hung a curve ball and Turner sent the ball over the center field wall. Turner went 1-4 with the key two run home run.
The Dodgers bullpen shut the door in the 8th and 9th innings to close out Game 1 of the World Series. The final line score for the Astros is 1 run on 3 hits and 0 errors. For the Dodgers, their line score was 3 runs on 6 hits with 0 errors.

Game 2 should be another low scoring game as Justin Verlander, who is 4-0 in the postseason, will go up against Rich Hill, who has also been dominate in this postseason.
Conclusion
If Game 1 is any indicator, the World Series looks like it will be a good one. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a 1 game to none lead over the Houston Astros in the 2017 World Series. Game 2 will be played on Wednesday at 8:09 eastern time on FOX.
