Italian side Inter Milan have agreed to a deal with Bayern Munich for Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri. The clubs have agreed to a loan deal until the end of the 2014-2015 season, when Inter will have the option to buy him for a rumored €12 million Euros.
The 23-year old winger gained limited playing time for an impressive Bayern side, after having to fight Arjen Robben for a place on the first-time squad. He scored 17 goals in 81 appearances for Bayern but despite the limited opportunities, he has still gained recognition as one of the rising stars of Europe.
He has great pace and speed as well as surprising dribbling skills. Standing just 5’6, he plays most of his game with the ball at his feet. He can play in a central attacking role and can hit a ball with force. Will he fit at Inter? He would be fighting with Freddy Guarin or Mateo Kovacic for a spot in the starting lineup.
Inter looks to be strengthening their squad to regain some pride if anything. Thier newest signatures include Nemanja Vidic from Manchester United and Lukas Podolski, signed from Arsenal just a few days ago.
Inter currently sits in 11th place in the Serie A and have not enjoyed the success that they had during their great run from 2005-2010 where they won five consecutive Serie A league titles as well as the Champions League. The historic club is seeing dark days, but with reinforcements, the future looks bright.
