A much anticipated Dubai semifinal rematch is what we shall be treated to later today as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are set to face off for the title of the 2014 BNP Paribas Open at 2:00 PM (PT). Having beat the top American, John Isner, after fighting back a forced 3rd set, Djokovic should be feeling the crown of world number one slowly gravitating back towards his name. Only thing standing in Djokovic’s way is a little statistic of 17-15. Federers, historically speaking, upper hand in games won overall may factor in the outcome of the final more than the Djoker would like to imagine.

The warm to hot conditions of the Californian desert will make for a familiar stomping ground for Federer. Having had considerable success in such conditions and pulling up better than Novak in the blistering sun at the Australian Open, Monaco and of course most recently, Dubai. While the weather just may be the Achilles heel of the Serb, his drive to regain his world number one ranking is at full speed this season. Hoping to come away with a win, he will look to carry this moment to Miami where another large cache of Emirates ATP Ranking points will be waiting.

Today, while Federer might have a slight mental advantage, will it be enough to cancel out Djokovic’s  physicality?
