The L.A Dodgers have defeated the Milwaukee Brewers once again to take a 3-2 in the NLCS
Brewers Struck Early
The rotations turned around as Clayton Kershaw and Wade Miley squared off on their second start of the series.
Kershaw made quick work of the Brewers. He retired the side in order aided by a double play. On the other hand, Milwaukee had a bizarre start to their game on the mound. Miley gave a walk to Cody Bellinger right away. Manager Craig Counsell showed no patience to his starter as he was pulled out of the game immediately. Brandon Woodruff entered the game and finished the inning.
Los Angeles’ starter had an easy going trough his first two innings on the mound. Nonetheless, his third inning at work would be rough one. He gave a single to Orlando Arcia to begin the inning, that was followed with a walk to his opposite number. Minutes later, Lorenzo Cain hit an RBI double off the Texas pitcher to put the Brewers up by one. Troubles kept rolling for Kershaw as he then Walked Ryan Braun to load up the bases. He eventually got out of the inning striking out Jesus Aguilar.
Dodgers Turn The Tables
Kershaw settled on the pitching mound later in the game. He retired the fourth and fifth inning in order, striking out seven batters trough five full innings of work. Woodruff hit a bump in the road after a perfect fourth inning on the mound. Chris Taylor hit a single off the rookie reliever to begin the inning. Austin Barnes hit an RBI single later in the inning to tie the score. The Brewers’ pitcher got out of the inning striking out Bellinger.
Troubles kept coming for the Brewers an inning later as the Dodgers did not let their foot off the gas. He gave up a single to Justin Turner to begin the inning. He then hit Manny Machado to put two men on base. Max Muncy hit an RBI single after a mound visit to give L.A the lead. Corbin Burnes came in on relief with two outs to go in the inning. Yasiel Puig widened the lead for the Dodgers as he hit an RBI single. The score was 3-1 as Machado came around to score on Puig’s hit.
Take It And Run
The Dodgers’ rally was still alive in the bottom of the seventh. Joakim Soria gave a walk to Kershaw to start thing out in the inning. Bellinger followed that with a double to put men on second and third base. Justin Turner followed the double with an RBI single to bring Kershaw around the plate to score. Los Angeles was now up by three as the score was 4-1. Xavier Cedeno took over the mound trying to end the inning. He did so by striking out Muncy after and RBI groundout by Brian Dozier.
Pedro Baez came in for the Dodgers to pitch in the eighth as Los Angeles looked to set the game in cruise control. He retired the side in order. Milwaukee was running out of chances in the late innings. Milwaukee came into the top of the ninth looking to score at least four runs to force Los Angeles to bat in the bottom frame of the inning. Caleb Ferguson got the first out of the inning with a groundout by Christian Yelich. Ryan Madson came in trying to end the game. Nonetheless, he gave a double to Curtis Granderson who batted a run in. The score was 5-2. Los Angeles then brought Kenley Jansen into the game to get the final out. Jansen struck out Mike Moustakas to end the ballgame. The Dodgers were one win away from the World Series.
