With riots continuing in Baltimore due to the Freddie Gray protest, the Orioles’ scheduled home game against the Chicago White Sox has been postponed for a second straight night.
According to the Orioles’ official Twitter account the decision was made after consulting officials:
After consultation with MLB & state & local officials, tonight’s game between the Orioles & the White Sox at Oriole Park has been postponed.

Monday’s contest was also postponed due to the riots and baseball commissioner Rob Manfred commented on the situation:
“At this point we’re looking at every possible alternative in terms of completing the schedule in a timely way and making sure the games are played in a security situation that is safe for the fans. We’re going to look at every alternative at this point,” he said.
The O’s are scheduled to play the White Sox on Wednesday, followed by a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Jason Stark of ESPN.com is reporting that Major League Baseball is exploring options to make these games happen.
Make up dates have yet been set for the White Sox series but they have several months to schedule a date, same goes for the Rays series if needed.
The Orioles and Major League Baseball are making the right decisions by postponing the games for the public safety. Until the protests die down, there is a good chance that baseball will not be played in Baltimore.
