The Brewers have defeated the Dodgers in game 6 of the NLCS and have forced a seventh and final game.
Early Big Inning
Wade Miley and Hyun-Jin Ryu took the mound for their third and second outings of the series respectively.
The game did not star like the Brewers hoped for. In fact, things went sour pretty quickly for Milwaukee, David Freese went deep with a home run two pitches into the ballgame. Miley ended the inning with a ground out by Cody Bellinger. Despite, the early homer, the Brewers would not trail for long.
Ryu did not have a perfect first inning by any means. He had trouble finding his sports from the very beginning and runs poured down on him in the bottom of the inning. Jesus Aguilar doubled bringing Lorenzo Cain and Ryan Braun to score putting Milwaukee in the lead. Mike Moustakas then doubled to bring Aguilar home. Things did not stop there as Erik Kratz hit a single to add another run before the end of the inning. The Brewers were up 4-1. The bottom of the second was also a struggle as Braun hit another the double to put the score 5-1.
Miley settled on the mound on the third as he retired the side in order. Ryu was getting hit hard but hanged the zero in the third inning.
Brewers Hold On
The Brewers’ starter made quick work out of the Dodgers in the fourth as he retired the side in order. Julio Urias came in from the bullpen in the bottom of the fourth trying to contain he Brewer offense. He did so by retiring Milwaukee in order.
Miley gave up a walk to Dozier and an RBI double to Freese to put the score 5-2. He was replaced by Corey Knebel after a walk to Max Muncy. Alex Wood came in from the bullpen. He ran into trouble as he walked Travis Wood, hit catcher Kratz and later, gave up another walk to Orlando Arcia to load up the bases. Wood struck out Knebel to get out of the jam.
Knebel did a solid job in the top of the sixth despite hitting Joc Pederson. He struck out Austin Barnes to end the inning.Dylan Floro came in from the bullpen for the Dodgers to replace Alex Wood in the bottom of he sixth. He gave a single to Braun after two outs and was immediately replaced by Caleb Ferguson on the mound. Ferguson struck out Travis Shaw to end the frame. Milwaukee held on to their lead as the ballgame headed into the late innings.
One More Game
Jeremy Jeffress took the mound in the bottom of the seventh for the Brewers. Jeffress look to keep the Dodgers in check to force a game seven. He had little trouble face Los Angeles as he retired the side in order. Kenta Maeda came in to the mound for the Californian team in the bottom of the inning. He struggled to begin his night at work as he gave up a double to Aguilar and a walked to Moustakas. Los Angeles seemed to be out of trouble until a wild pitch by Maeda allowed Aguilar to score. The Brewers were now up by four as the score was 6-2.
Corbin Burnes stepped on the pitching mound for Milwaukee to begin the eighth. Once again, the Brewer bullpen had no trouble as he retired the Dodgers in order. The bottom of the inning did not go as planned for Los Angeles as Maeda gave a single to Cain to begin the inning. He was replaced by Rich Hill after the hit. Aguilar hit a single off Hill to widen Milwaukee’s lead. The score was now 7-2
Burnes remained on the game for the top of the ninth as he looked to end the ballgame. He did just that with a pair of strikeouts and a pop out to end the game. Brewers win, not only that, but they have forced one final game.
Final Score: Brewers 7- Dodgers 2
