BREAKING: WR Jeremy Maclin to sign with Kansas City Chiefs
After rebounding from a torn ACL in 2013 to set career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdown catches in 2014, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin now appears set to be on the way to the Kansas City Chiefs to be reunited with his former head coach Andy Reid.
Maclin is the latest in a series of skill-position players who have left Philadelphia in the last 2 seasons, following the departures of Desean Jackson and LeSean McCoy. The 1,318 yards while leading the team in targets will be sorely missed, and Riley Cooper and Jordan Matthews will have to fill a big void in Philadelphia’s offense.
For Kansas City and Reid, Maclin’s ability to go deep will be a huge boost to an offense that had the grand total of zero touchdown catches by a wide receiver last season. On top of the scoring woes, the Chiefs have not had a receiver finish with a 1,000-yard season since Dwayne Bowe in 2011, and Maclin’s familiarity with Reid along with emerging tight end Travis Kelce will force opposing defenses to spread their coverage rather than focus on the dual-threat ability of Jamaal Charles, who has carried the Chiefs’ offense for so long.
