It’s been nearly two years since Timothy Bradley pulled off a very controversial decision over Manny Pacquiao. Both fighters have taken different roads since then.
Pacquiao has had some struggles since the upset. He would go on to lose his second straight bout to a Juan Manuel Marquez right hand in the sixth round. At this point, the congressman’s boxing career was in doubt with many wondering whether he’d be able to come back from such a brutal knockout. Nearly a year later, he would step back into the ring and defeat Brandon Rios by unanimous decision.
Bradley, on the other hand, would keep a clean slate. He went on to beat both Ruslan Provodnikov (unanimous) and Juan Manuel Marquez (split decision). You would think that Bradley would gain huge popularity after defeating possibly one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all time. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. He would receive much skepticism as to him being a legitimate title holder.
Today, Manny will get the opportunity to get his belt back. Though a majority of the public will pick the Philippine congressman to take the win today, many don’t realize how much Bradley has improved since their last meeting. Do look for a much better fight and don’t be surprised if a “Desert Storm” goes over Pac-Man.
