Astros Finally Fall At Home As Dodgers Even Series 2-2

The Dodgers beat the Astros 6-2 in game four to even the series at 2-2.

Both Starting Pitchers Dominate

Alex Wood and Charlie Morton matched each other pitch for pitch in Game 4, but the Dodger bullpen did a much better job than Houston’s. The Astro bullpen gave up 5 runs in ninth inning, including 3 runs charged to Ken Giles, who did not record an out.

Alex Wood went 5.2 innings, and allowed only 1 hit, a sixth inning solo home run to George Springer. Brandon Morrow came in and got the last out of the sixth. Wood finished with 85 pitches, with just 49 for strikes.

Charlie Morton went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 7. Morton was pulled after allowing a double to Cody Bellinger. Morton finished with 76 pitches, 51 of them for strikes. Will Harris came in and allowed a two-out RBI single to Logan Forsythe that gave Morton his only run surrendered.

Giles continues to struggle

With the game on the line, Giles has struggled this whole postseason. Giles came into a 1-1 tie and gave up a single to Corey Seager, then walked Justin Turner. Cody Bellinger followed that with a 2-run double, and that was the end of the night for Giles. Joe Musgrove came in and issued an intentional walk, a sac fly, and a 3-run home run before finally getting out of the inning. The Dodgers had a commanding 6-1 lead with just 3 outs to go.

Giles also blew the lead in Game 2, when the Astros had a 5-3 lead. Giles held the Dodgers scoreless in the ninth, but gave up gave up a home run to Yasiel Puig to lead off the 10th, then walked Forsythe. A wild pitch put Forsythe in scoring position, and he would score the tying run. For the postseason Giles is 0-2, allowing 10 runs in just 7.2 innings pitched.

Who will start Game 5?

Game 5 will be known as the game of the series. Clayton Kershaw vs. Dallas Keuchel. The winner of this game will have full control of the series. Game 5 will be played in Houston at 8:00 Eastern time.
