Arsenal Hit The Ground Running At Wembley; 3-0 Victory Over Manchester City!

The FA Community Shield kicked off with the FA Cup champions, Arsenal faced off against the Barclays Premier League champions, Manchester City. Arsenal and Manchester City looked evenly matched at the beginning of the half but the gunners were the ones that were attacking and had more chances to score at the start of the half. Manchester City broke through the Arsenal defense on the 13th minute but the Gunners managed to step it up and get the ball out of their box.

The first goal of the match went to Arsenal as Santi Cazorla put it in the back of the net to put Arsenal up 1-0 on the 22nd minute. Yaya Sanogo came close to scoring on the 25th minute but his shot was a bit wide of the second post. A lot of fouls were committed during the first 30 minutes of the game but no card was given. Any opportunity that Manchester City got to break through the Arsenal defense, the gunners found a way to prevent them from scoring even if they put their bodies in to block the ball. Aaron Ramsey put the Gunners up 2-0 on the 42nd with a wonderful shot to the second post. Arsenal has looked strong not just offensively but also defensively as well during the first half of the FA Community Shield match against Manchester City.

The second half began with two substitutions for the Arsenal side as Oliver Giroud and Alex Oxclade-Chamberlain replace Yaya Sanogo and Alexis Sanchez in the Gunners attack. Nacho Monreal replaced Laurent Koscielny in the gunner’s back line. David Silva came on for Samir Nasri at the start of the half for Manchester City. The first yellow card of the match went to Fernando of Manchester City on the 51st minute. Manchester City looked more awake in as they got closer to scoring in the beginning of the second half.

James Milner and Bruno Zuculini came on for Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko on the 60th minute. With a power shot with a side of dip on the 61st minute, Oliver Grioud put the Gunners up 3-0 to most likely secure their FA Community Shield victory. Jack Wilshere received a standing ovation for an excellent performance as he was subbed of on the 68th minute for Matthieu Flamini to put some fresh legs in Arsenal’s defense. Santi Cazorla came off on the 70th minute for Tomas Rosicky. Santi Cazorla received an even bigger standing ovation as he was the one that put Arsenal in the lead during the first half.

Micah Richards came on for Aleksandar Kolarov on the 76th minute another substitution for Manchester City came on the 85th minute as Jesus Navas came of for Scott Sinclair. Aaron Ramsey came of on the 86th minute for Joel Campbell. Arsenal takes the FA Community Shield as they defeated Manchester City with a score of 3-0. This is Arsenal’s first trophy of the 2014/15 season. The Gunner’s showed that they will be great competitors for the league title this season with great performances from every player that played today. It will be a season to watch!
