Arsenal and Tottenham shared the points at the Emirates Stadium today, drawing 1-1. The Spurs struck first through Nacer Chadli in the 56th minute, after a scoreless half. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put things back level with a strike into the upper corner of the goal.
The Gunners will rue missed opportunities, again, in a game they felt they should have won. Danny Welbeck came up short early on with only defender Younes Kaboul to beat, who played a great game, coming up with huge stops for the Spurs backline.
The Spurs were sent a scare when Oxlade Chamberlain crossed the ball that came up close enough so that Hugo Lloris had to tip it over the crossbar.
A few plays later, Jack Wilshere almost scored in a great setup, but Lloris was fortunate to dive to the correct side.
The only real chance for Tottenham came in the 56th minute, which was all the chance the Spurs needed to capitalize on and put them ahead to stun Arsenal fans. Arsenal dominated possession the first half, with the Spurs mostly on the defensive, which didn’t make all the more sense for folks at the Emirates.
Arsenal looked to create more on offense, leading to Wilshere’s substitution by Wenger, who put in Alexis Sanchez. This provided chance after chance for the Gunners, who finally struck through Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal in the 74th minute.
There were more opportunities for the Arsene Wenger’s men after tying things up, but Kaboul continued to defend excellently, shutting down the Arsenal attack almost by himself.
Arsenal face Chelsea next week and will surely hope for the best, as the Blues won in a victory where in-form striker Diego Costa struck again. Keep an eye open this week for news on Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey, as both were subbed off because of injuries.
