JayVaughn Pinkston only had one block in last nights game against Michigan but that one block soared to the top block of the year and it may be difficult for someone else in college basketball to surpass it. The block was an unbelievable defensive recovery. However, the timing of the dunk is what may set the bar too high to beat. Pinkston may have only had an average game with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 1 block but that one block won the game for Villanova and will have him being talked about for a long time and many individuals clamoring for a poster: The 2014 Block of the Year. The block was so impressive and so big that the go ahead bucket that he hit 6 seconds before may be all but forgotten. It may be his best 6 seconds of basketball ever.
After the block, Villanova secured the win with free throws and won the game 60-55. With the win, Villanova claimed the championship title of the Progressive Legends Classic after Villanova beating VCU (#14) and Michigan (#19). They definitely validated their #15 ranking and have staked a claim that they are worthy of a top ten consideration.
