The World Cup starts in less than 24 hours. Finally, after all of the predictions and speculation, after all the friendly games and after years of building up, we finally get to see 32 countries battle for the desired trophy. Thousands of fans from around the world have gathered to join as one to cheer for their nation’s team.
Everything leading up to this World Cup has been full of surprises, some good and some bad. From injuries to snubs. In this World Cup, we have a great mixture of young players and skilled players. No one knows what to expect from this edition of the tournament. Can Spain defend what is theirs to lose? Or will there be a new champion this year? Who will claim the elusive trophy and that comes with bragging rights for 4 years? There’s 32 teams all in which only 16 will advance to the next round, from there only 8 teams will continue until there’s only 2 teams that will face each other for the much wanted trophy. Germany, Brazil, Spain and Portugal are all favorites to win this World Cup.
For the Germans, if they fail to win it, it will just remind them how they were so close 4 years ago until it was snatched away from them by Spain. Brazil, the host nation, has a lot of pressure in their soldiers because they know they have an advantage in playing on their soil. Spain, the defending champs, hopes to recapture the trophy and continue to have bragging rights. Not much has changed with Spain and look pretty identical as they did four years ago. Portugal wants to capture the trophy and claim itself as the best in the world and they could capture it if they play as a team rather than Ronaldo vs everyone else. Will you be surprised if Chile wins the World Cup or Mexico? Or how about Nigeria?
Anything could happen in this World Cup. Everyone is predicting, everyone has a favorite team and of course everyone will have their game faces on as 32 teams battle each other to reach to the final. They will fight to the end to gain the rights to say “I’m better than you!”
