Roma Drops Valuable Points to Inter

Nearing the final eight matches in the Serie A, Roma could use every single point they can manage to grab. But since the middle of the season, Roma have taken home just one-point from more than just a few matches. Lazio has climbed the ranks and now sits even in second place with Roma, but are ahead on goal differential by six goals and with a match ahead of them tomorrow, which could see them gaining second place.

Roma took on Inter Milan in hope to pick up some points. Inter gained the lead on the 15th minute with a great shot from Anderson Hernanes. After finding himself atop the box, he found room for himself by shaking off a defender before unleashing a strike across the goal towards the far post to beat Morgan De Sanctis. He celebrated with a very acrobatic back-flip.

Roma were finally able to equalize in the 63rd minute. Miralem Pijanic intercepted a horrible ball from Andrea Ranocchia and found Radja Naingglon open to his right who struck the ball low across the goal.

Inter Milan found a late winner in the 88th minute. Lukas Podolski looked dangerous on top of the box, but instead threaded a ball towards Mauro Icardi inside the back who did fantastic to fight off his defender, turn and shoot the ball past De Sanctis. Too conservative defending from Roma. The goal would give Inter the 2-1 lead and eventual victory.

Inter Milan grab their 11th win of the season, while Roma concede their 13th draw. Roma’s lead over third place Napoli could be reduced to just two points should Napoli defeat fourth place Sampdoria. Lazio should have no trouble getting past Chievo Verona, but in this league, it seems that anything is possible. Except for robbing Juventus of the Scudetto, that is. All places below first seem to be up for grabs, but everyone surly has their eyes on a spot in the Champions League.
