Real Madrid wins FIFA Club World Cup; 4th Title of the Year!

Real Madrid has been unstoppable since they lost against Real Sociedad back in the end of August. With 22 wins in a row, Real Madrid is the best team in the world right now. From La Liga to the Champions league, no one has been able to stop them, not even their arch rivals FC Barcelona.

With a win over Atletico Madrid back in May for the Champions League final, Real Madrid got a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup. They played mexican club Cruz Azul back on Tuesday with a 4-0 score to get a spot in the Final of the Club world cup and go up against Argentinian club San Lorenzo in Marrakesh.

Real Madrid was the strongest team since the beginning of the match and San Lorenzo never had a chance against the Madrid club. San Lorenzo looked aggressive a couple of times putting fans at ease, but Real Madrid survived the game. With goals from Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale, Real Madrid was able to prove that they were the better team and are deserving of the FIFA Club World Cup.

As the first minute kicked off, Real Madrid played hard and never quit on creating chances to get on the scoreboard. But it was not until the 37th minute that we saw Real Madrid get on the scoreboard thanks to a header by Sergio Ramos. Even though he played with a torn thigh muscle, Sergio Ramos never quit and actually found the back of the net. With a corner kick given to the Merengues, Toni Kroos used his corner kick skills to get the ball in the box and Sergio Ramos was able to jump in the air, find the ball with his head and get it behind goalkeeper Sebastian Torrico. The rest of the first half was quiet with Sergio Ramos getting the only goal for Real.

The second half, again, belonged to Real Madrid and it was not until six minutes in that we saw Gareth Bale get into the scoresheet. Bale was able to collect a pass from Isco and fire the ball straight at Torrico. Torrico made a terrible hash of Bale’s kick and the ball fumbled underneath him, allowing the ball to go over the line.

Karim Benzema had a chance to add a third goal but it went way over the post and kept the score at 2-0. Cristiano Ronaldo was very quiet throughout the game and did not see much of him. Iker Casillas also had no trouble and had an easy game.

The game ended with Real Madrid picking up their 4th trophy of the year. With the Champions League, Copa del Rey and European Super Cup title in the books, Real was able to add the FIFA Club World Cup and finish the 2014 year strong. With the 22 wins in a row, they are alo seeking to break their all time record of 26 wins in a row which is held by the 1971-72 Johan Cruyff’s Ajax side, according to yahoo sports. They will also finish the year by being La Liga leaders and hope to make history in 2015 by trying to win the Champions League, La Liga, Super Spanish Cup and any other title that comes in their way next year. If they repeat history, they will for sure prove that they are the best team in the world thus far.
