Legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been with Real Madrid since 1990. The Spanish club signed Casillas to their youth team, known as La Fabrica, at the age of 9. At age 33, they are looking towards his exit.

According to ESPN, Casillas’ representatives are looking at possible financial packages for the aging goalkeeper, who is expected to leave the club this summer. This then leaves room for speculation regarding his replacement. Real Madrid has shown strong interest in David De Gea, who is currently playing for Manchester United and has not renewed his deal with the English club.

At the moment, this gives Casillas a financial advantage over Real Madrid. They simply cannot push the goalkeeper out if they plan to bring in De Gea as their #1 keeper. El Confidencial, a Spanish site, reported that Casillas could be receiving €3.5 million in bonuses, on top of the €22 million he is set to receive for the rest of his contract.

Casillas could still be a very prominent goal keeper for other clubs but there are no reports of teams reaching out to him. Do not be surprised if a Major League Soccer team reaches out, as the league is expanding and looking at bringing familiar names from abroad. It would make for a very nice final paycheck and would help fill stands in the United States.
