Pumas wasted no time in taking the lead as they dominated Queretaro in a 3-1 game, taking the first victory of the night. In just the second minute, Ismael Sosa put Pumas ahead with a right-footed shot from close range to beat Queretaro goalie Edgar Hernandez.
The game was mostly Pumas’s, who dominated the match. Later in the first half, Pumas scored again on a goal from Ricardo Osorio. When the second half kicked off, Los Universitarios kept up the pressure with a very impressive offensive attack.
Luduena would score the third and final goal of the night with an off-set piece that beat Edgar Hernandez to the top left corner. Queretaro could not get the pieces together. To make a bad night worse, Danilinho would receive his second yellow card, making it a red, leaving Queretaro with only ten men from the 72nd minute on.
The game seemed over, but Queretaro would not go down with a 3-0 score. They continued to search for their season’s first goal. Thanks to Angel Sepulveda’s, Queretaro would score in injury time.
Pumas couldn’t ask for a better way to start La Liga Mx campaign. Pumas will next receive Chivas, hoping to continue its winning streak. Meanwhile, Queretaro hopes to pick up its first win when it visits Leones Negros.
