Preparing For the Worst

Earlier it was announced that Steve Nash might not be able to return to play another game of basketball. This is a sad way for the two-time MVP to go out, but he has experienced a lot of pain caused by the broken leg suffered early last year. If he does not return to play, he will be eligible to receive medical retirement from the league and his contract will come off of the books for the Los Angeles Lakers. This means that the Lakers will need some help in the backcourt especially now that Jordan Farmar is out for another 4-6 weeks.

While Kobe and Xavier Henry will pick up some minutes at the point, I do believe it’s time for the Lakers to look elsewhere. They have waived Elias Harris and now have an open roster to bring in a viable back up point guard. I think D.J. Augustin will most likely sign with the Chicago Bulls, but the Lakers still have some options. My personal opinion would be to sign Warriors Stephen Curry’s younger brother Seth.
Playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors, Seth has averaged 19.8 Points 3.3 Rebounds and 7,7 Assists per game.  While Seth might not be the same player as his brother, he is still a great shooter and will fit perfectly in D’Antoni’s system.

Considering he also spent some time playing on a team featuring none other than Lakers player Ryan Kelly, I do think he can be a cheap and suitable weapon for the future.
