Outlook
The Soul entered last night’s game with a chance to snatch away first place from rival Baltimore. A win today could put them in the driver’s seat heading in to the playoffs. Home field can only increase this hungry bunch’s chances at a 3 peat. A win today would put them in a three way tie for first at 7-4 with one game to play for all the marbles.
1st Half
The first half full of defensive miscues by the Soul. Most of these mistakes seem to involve the shockingly poor play of cornerback James Romain. The team’s interception leader was picked on religiously in the first half of play. This was with good cause however, as the Del State product bit on several double moves allowing huge gains. However, despite their defensive short comings the Soul was able to go into the half tied thanks to great play by returning QB Dan Raudabaugh. Raudabaugh threw for 255 yards and 7 touchdowns on the day shaking off any perceived rust from returning from injury.
2nd Half
In the second half the defense got it together, making key stops on fourth downallowing the soul offense to finally regain the lead. Philadelphia rookie wide out Aaron Wascha had himself a day and stole the show. He ended up with 10 grabs totaling 108 yards, 4 for touchdowns including the game winner. The Key play however was made by soul defense as they clamped down on a gutsy Brigade 2 point conversion attempt. The Brigade scored with less than a minute to go in regulation and instead of kicking a sure extra point elected to go for the win on the road. This bold move resulted in a badly thrown pass that was eventually intercepted in the pack of the end zone.
Final Score
Soul 49 Brigade 48
