For the second straight season the, Cardinals finished off the Bearcats in the Keg of Nails game as the Cardinals won 31-24 in OT. The Bearcats went for it on 4th and 14th but failed to convert as Brendon Kay’s pass was incomplete to Anthony McClung. The Bearcats finish the season with a combined record of 9-3 and the Cardinals finish with 11-1. This was most likely Teddy Bridgewater’s last game in the regular season with the Cardinals as he may enter the 2014 NFL Draft at the conclusion of the season. This was the last rival game between the two schools as they both are going to different conferences next year. Cincinnati is rumored to enter the BIG 12 following this season, but the Louisville Cardinals are confirmed to play in the ACC next season. Teddy Bridgewater finished the night with a completion rating of 62% and 3 TD with only only 1 INT. His favorite target of the night was DeVante Parker, who finished the night with 9 REC, 104 YDS, 11.6 AVG, and 2 TD. After this game, UCF won the AAC and now have a bid to play in a BCS bowl game. As for the Cardinals, they lock up a spot to play in the Russell Athletic Bowl on December 28th as this bowl tie-in pits the ACC Vs. AAC. They most likely will take on the Hokies of Virginia Tech. Lastly for the Bearcats, they are going to play in the Belk Bowl against the Tar Heels of North Carolina. This would be Cincinnati’s 2nd appearance in this particular bowl game. Last time, they took out the Duke Blue Devils, 48-34.
