Mexico national team manager, Miguel Herrera, is confident that he can count on more than 46 players ready to play for the Mexican national team.

In a press conference given at the LA Coliseum on Tuesday morning, Herrera assured,” Mexico has 46 players available to take part in the national teams that will go to the Copa America and Gold Cup, and even more.”

In addition, Herrera ruled out the opportunity of players participating in both tournaments.

Herrera is set to announce his Copa America squad in early May, with the Gold Cup squad announced shortly afterwards.

Mexico’s only FIFA international dates before El Tri’s busy Summer Gold Cup and Copa America are games against Ecuador on March 28 in Los Angeles and Paraguay three days later in Kansas City.

However, Mexico’s US tour includes a friendly against the United States National team in April, but Herrera’s team will only be be composed of locally-based players.

Likewise, Mexico has friendlies programmed against Peru and Brazil before the Copa America, with the possibility of a third game being added on a later date.
