Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata is predicted to be in a bid war between top Premier League clubs. Manchester United and Arsenal are racing to win the young striker’s signature. The Red Devils are planning on freshening their attack in the summer transfer window and the 21-year old Spaniard is on the top of David Moyes’ list.
As reported by Miguel Delaney of ESPN, “…United have been looking at the player and their interest indicates that changes in attack are planned this summer. Indeed, it is anticipated that Javier Hernandez will move, most likely to Italy or Spain.” Morata has found it difficult to break into the first team with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and Jese Rodrigruez in top form. Morata has only had one start and 14 substitute appearances across La Liga and the Champions League.
The young striker has excellent touch and is a smart distributor of possession and he isn’t afraid to keep the momentum building and is quite difficult to stop when he has the ball at his disposal. He is also very dominant in the air and has the potential and ability to be a lethal finisher, a skill needed in order to be a top striker.
United’s only obstacle in signing the Spain international is Arsenal’s interest in the striker. As reported by Bleacher Report UK guest columnist Guillem Balague: ” The Madrid born and academy raised Spain Under-21 international has agreed to personal terms with the Gunners, who have had him on their radar for quite some time and tried to sign him during the January window.”
One thing that Arsenal can offer is Champions league football, unlike United who are finding it difficult to qualify for next years Champions league. A reported fee of 25 million Euros is what Real Madrid are most likely going to ask. Morata has the potential to be something big but at the moment it would be wise for the Red Devils and the Gunners to try to lower the price. Their is no doubt that a bidding war will happen in the summer for this young star and which ever team wins the signature, they will have a future star in the making.
