The shelf life of an NFL running back is not long. On average that last about 3 seasons or less. So it is of vital importance when you get a good running back you hold on to him and be cautious of injuries. The same can be said of eagles running back Jay Ajayi. Who is now gone for the rest of the season, leaving the
defending champs looking for answers.
How It Happened
Ajayi went down late in Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. While the injury didn’t seem as serious at first, it turned out to be far worse than team officials had suspected. However the home team was able to claw back into the game in his absence. This made one sided affair a close game. Ajayi has had knee injuries in the pass. Therefore this latest setback is not a huge surprise to those around the league.
Where Does Philly Go From Here.
The defending Super Bowl Champions finds themselves in quite the conundrum. Philadelphia currently sits at 2-3 in a tie for second place in a lack luster NFC East. They should still be the favorite to be repeat as division champs but will need help. They were already considered a possible trade candidate for Steelers All Pro LeVeon Bell Bell. And now it seems they will be even more anxious to get a deal done. Their offense doesn’t work without a running game so it is imperative the fill the hole left by Ajayi. While running back by committee has worked thus far it may not be enough to bring another parade to Broad Street.
