Although the Wyndham Championship is not the most exciting tournament to watch as many of the most well-known names in golf don’t attend, this year was different as players like Tiger Woods, Martin Kaymer, and Bill Haas found themselves eyeing a spot in the 2015 FedEx Cup Playoffs. However, they were overtaken and outplayed by someone of great knowledge and wisdom of the game, known for his short game and scrambling skills.

Davis Love III wins the 2015 Wyndham Championship at the age of 51 years, four months, and 10 days. Love III becomes the third-oldest player to win on the PGA Tour, behind Art Wall, Jr. (51 years, seven months, 10 days) and Sam Snead (52 years, 10 months, eight days). The native of Charlotte, North Carolina won by one stroke over Jason Gore shooting a final round of 64 that included two eagles, four birdies, and two bogeys. The 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain earns his 37th career professional victory, 2,478 days after his last win in 2008, and 500 FedEx Cup Points, jumping him up 110 slots in the playoff standings.

Love III is one of five players to move up in the standings and officially qualify for the 2015 FedEx Cup Playoffs, along with Gore, Jonas Blixt, Camillo Villegas, and Ryo Ishikawa.

And these five men moved down in the standings will not make the playoffs:

A familiar face we won’t see in this year’s playoffs is Tiger Woods, who shot a final round of 70, finishing tied for 10th at the final tournament of the season. This is the first time that the two-time FedEx Cup-Champion will miss the playoffs after a year that saw him miss the cut at all the major championships except The Masters. The 39-year-old’s season has now come to an end and will look to recharge his batteries during the off-season.

But Tiger wasn’t all disappointed with his day; he got to witness a great shot by his playing partner Scott Brown on the tee of the third hole.

The PGA Tour will now shift gears to the post-season and the race for the 2015 FedEx Cup; a four-tournament aggregate playoff with the Top 125 competing for the top prize. The first tournament will be The Barclays which takes place in Edison, New Jersey at the Plainfield Country Club from August 27-30; only the Top 100 players in the playoff standings afterwards will advance.
