Atletico Madrid President, Enrique Cerezo, is determined to work out an agreement to buy Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea. Courtois is believed to be happy at Atletico Madrid, which is the main reason Enrique Cerezo is determined to have Courtois on a permanent deal. The deal might require some negotiating since he thinks Chelsea’s asking price for the goalkeeper may be too high.

Courtois is currently in his third season on loan to Atletico Madrid. He has greatly improved his reputation to a level that Cezero has rated the 21-year old Belgium goalkeeper as the best in Europe. There has been speculation all around whether or not Courtois will return to Stamford Bridge next season for a first team spot or seal his move to Atletico Madrid. Cezero wished to keep the Belgian goalkeeper at Atletico Madrid but Chelsea, the team that owns Courtois, will have the final say.

Atletico Madrid will have to think very carefully on their offer for Courtois with reports saying Chelsea demands a bid at around 20 million Euros. In an interview the Daily Mirror (UK), Cezero said, “Courtois is incredible on the pitch. We are interested but the price is too much for a keeper. We want to try to do business, but it depends on Chelsea. We must study everything. For me, it is clear that Courtois is the best goalkeeper in Europe”.

Reports have shown that Barcelona are also in the race for the 21-year old Belgian goalkeeper’s signature.
