Bayern Munich all but confirmed another Bundesliga title Saturday with a narrow 1-0 victory at home to Hertha Berlin. Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the only goal of the game, with a late strike ten minutes from the end to follow up Bayern’s strong win, against Porto mid week to progress to the Semi Final of the Champions League.
With only four games left to play in the season the title is all but theirs, giving them the opportunity to rest players a head of their match against Barcelona. Pep Guardiola made a handful of matches starting Gianluca Gaudino and Mitchell Weiser whilst resting Thiago and Juan Bernat after their mid week heroics.
Bayern had two eyes set on their Semi Final matches against Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, which showed in their below average performance this afternoon against Berlin.
Bayern didn’t appear to be willing to push themselves past their limits to get the result and Berlin didn’t seem to care about leaving their half if it meant leaving with a point.
Guardiola furthered showed how little he cared about winning this game in the second half when he decided to give eighteen year old Sinan Kurt his first team debut.
Even though didn’t play they there best football or their best eleven, Bayern showed us while they’re are on the edge of another title. With ten minutes left in the game Bastian Schweinsteiger curling his shot into the top right-hand corner, just a minute after heading the ball on the post.
The goal was enough to seal the points for Bayern, giving them the chance to win the title this weekend before they go into any of their Semi Final match ups.
