Bayern bounced back from their 3-1 defeat at Porto in mid-week to grab a 2-0 win away at Hoffenheim. The win out them one step closer to their third straight Bundesliga title. Sebastian Rode scored the opener for an injury filled Bayern, who added a second from an Andreas Beck own goal.
Bayern a name may be intimidating but their lineup today was far from it, key players such as Ribery and Robben were out with injuries which will leave Hoffenheim frustrated at themselves for not helping their push for European history.
Hoffenheim would have been motivated when they saw that Bayern were fielding their second string players, but the first team replacements kept up with the first teams reputation by dominating the possession and the game.
Despite controlling the game it took Bayern 38 minutes to score the opener. It came when Rode’s shot found the top right-hand corner after Thomas Muller’s shot was parried by Oliver Baumann, and Robert Lewandowski set up the midfielder.
Bayern looked happy with a 1-0 but were gifted a second when Beck diverted Muller’s low cross into his own goal with his knee on the very last attack of the game, to seal Bayern’s win.
It wasn’t pretty but Bayern got the result in a tough fixture, which will give them the believe that they can turn around their 3-1 deficit against Porto on Tuesday night.
