Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the game as Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid to win their 23rd Spanish title.

Barcelona are on course for the treble in Luis Enrique’s first season as manager. The Catalonia side has Atletico Bilbao to play in the Copa Del Rey final at the end of the month, before playing Juventus in the Champions League final a week later.

Atletico came close to opening the scoring in the second half despite struggling to get a foot on the ball. Shortly after the chance Messi scored low into the corner after an exchange of passes with Pedro.

Barcelona controlled the game with 77% possession and 15 shots, and celebrated on the Vicente Calderon pitch at the end of the game as they tick one trophy off their list. The now Spanish champions will be looking to repeat their treble success from the 08/09 season under the management of Pep Guardiola.
