Atletico Madrid ties against Sevilla FC

After losing to Celta Vigo two weeks ago then beating Almeria 3-0 last week, Atlético Madrid seems to be on a rollercoaster. A team that beat Real Madrid four times in a row, and then dropping three points right away the next week to get closer to the title, Atlético is showing us that they can’t be consistent. This is also their first tie since September 20, 2014 when they tied 2-2 against Celta Vigo, a team they fell to just two weeks ago.

They also fell to Bayer Leverkusen in the middle of the week in Champions League play and now they dropped another two points when they went ahead against Sevilla. The game ended in a 0-0 score as the Rojiblancos could not do anything to regain the three points they really needed. Sevilla, on the other hand, seems to be dropping down in the table as they fell to Real Sociedad last weekend and now could not do anything against Diego Simeone’s team. They are now sitting seven points behind fourth place Valencia and Villarreal are now two points behind them, thanks to the tie they got against Real Madrid on Sunday night.

With attackers like Antoine Griezmann, who has been in phenomenal form, Mario Mandžukić and the shining boy, Fernando Torres, it does not make sense why Atlético Madrid is struggling to get those three points they really need. Along with a strong defense and some key midfielder players, Atlético needs to find something or that miracle touch to get back into the title run. Valencia is right behind them, and if they cannot do anything next weekend against them, Valencia will surely take third place from Atlético.

Sevilla will face Deportivo La Coruña on Saturday and they too need to find a miracle to regain their run for the title or at least land in the top four to be able to compete in the Champions League next season. Carlos Bacca, Iago Aspas, and Kevin Gameiro, who make up the front line, need to find the chemistry to connect and get back into the game.
