Arsenal ready to think beyond Khedira

The Arsenal want to sign Manchester United target William Carvalho as they are ready to think beyond Sami Khedira.

The Arsenal have increased their interest in midfielder William Carvalho, which makes Carvalho and Real Madrid player Sami Khedira their top targets. Wenger is said to be interested in both players and has to decide soon which one to go for. This news would be music to Arsenal fans as the London club is still looking forward to spending and strengthening the squad.

Reports in Portugal claim that the Arsenal have placed a £24 million bid for William Carvalho. The player, who has a release clause of around £37 million, was believed to be close to joining Man United last season. The Portuguese club is said to be ready to accept less if the sum is paid entirely while signing the player. Carvalho’s wage expectations are also lower than that of Khedira, making him more desirable for Arsenal.

Carvalho has won many admirers around Europe and his growth as a player has been unbelievable. He made 29 Portuguese Primeira Liga appearances last season and scored four goals for his team.

On the other hand, Spanish reports claim that Real Madrid is preparing a bid to sign Luiz Gustavo, which means that Khedira would have to depart if the deal for the Brazilian goes through. Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the German midfielder, which would make things difficult for the Arsenal. The teams are also considering waiting and picking him up for free next summer.

Khedira is known not only for his defensive techniques but also for creating many goal-scoring opportunities. Khedira made 13 La Liga appearances last season and scored one goal for the UCL Champions. Last but not the least, he also is a World Cup winner, with immense stamina and very good passing accuracy.
