Arsenal and Aston Villa battled it out this year at Wembley for the F.A. Cup title. Arsenal was back in the final this year, after winning the F.A. Cup last year in extra time. Arsenal was looking to make history in English Football, and would try to capitalize their twelfth F.A. Cup title.

Arsenal showed great confidence and skilled football since the very first few minutes of the game. They did not want to make any mistakes like last year and come back from a deficit.

After many opportunities in the first half, Arsenal opened up the score-sheet, Theo Walcott within five minutes before the end of the first half put a ball at the back of Shay Given’s net.  The play all started with Walcott, who found Nacho Monreal down the line. Nacho played a ball across to Alexis Sanchez, who headed it down for any incoming Arsenal player to strike the ball. Theo Walcott was the one who struck the ball with his left foot and gave no chance for Given to stop the shot.

Four minutes into the second half, Alexis Sanchez created space for himself and shot a banger from wide range, about 30 yards into the back of Aston Villa’s goal. The ball swerved on Given and left him without a reaction. This goal shows what Alexis Sanchez is capable of doing after playing a year in English football, well deserved for the Chilean.

Arsenal extended their lead again, in the 61st minute after a corner kick taken by Santi Cazorla. Per Mertersacker took advantage of Christian Benteke’s poor marking skills, and went up freely in the air and headed into the goal. This third goal, surely showed that Arsenal would retain the F.A. Cup title.

But the goals did not end there for the Gunners, after two substitutions made in the second half by Arsene Wenger to switch his attacking side. Wenger brought in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud into the pitch for Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott, who both had a very solid performance. The two substitutes combined with each other at the 90th minute and after a ball by Chamberlain to first post, Giroud with a typical outside of the foot first time finish sealed the victory at Wembley.

Arsenal crowned themselves for the twelfth time in F.A. Cup history, and will be the English team with the most F.A. Cup titles.
