Manchester United had to continue collecting points in order to finish in the top four. They received Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Villa also urge to collect points and hope not to fall into the last three spots.

After a very busy first half that was dominated by the red devils, Manchester United found the back of the net two minutes before the half. Manchester developed a nice play on the right side as Daley Blind overlapped Ashley Young, and put a diagonal ball to Ander Herrera‘s right foot. Herrera finished with his left to open up the score sheet.

In the 79th minute Wayne Rooney scored a stunning goal to make it two nil. After a run by Angel Di Maria on the left side, he crossed what seem to be a bad ball to Wayne Rooney. Rooney controlled with his left boot and smashed the ball with his right foot after letting it bounce.

A minute later Aston Villa found the back of the net, from a set piece. The corner kick was taken on the ground to first post and after a brilliant dummy, Christian Benteke made contact with the ball to send it right through David De Gea’s legs. Aston Villa had hopes in the last ten minutes to possibly fight for a point.

In the 90th minute there was another goal to wrap up the game. After a stolen ball by Wayne Rooney, Ander Herrera found the back of the net on a simple shot just inside the box. Herrera helped Manchester United earn their fifth straight league victory.

Manchester United now sits in third place, just one point behind second place and eight points behind first place. Manchester United will receive the broken Manchester City at Old Trafford for the Manchester derby. This will be a very important game for both teams.
