Alex Rodriguez has reached yet another milestone in his legendary 21 year career, this time becoming the 29th player in MLB history to join the prestigious 3,000 hit club.
A-Rod stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning as the 44,588 fans in attendance at Yankee Stadium waited anxiously to see their hometown hero join Derek Jeter as the only Yankees to collect 3,000 hits. 2011 Cy Young Winner and Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander delivered a 95-mph fastball that Rodriguez sent just over the right field wall for a solo home run, his 13th of the season. Yankee Stadium took to their feet as they watched him jog around the bases, celebrating all the while. He was then greeted by his teammates at home plate who congratulated him on his achievement.

Rodriguez was suspended for the entire 2014 season due to his involvement with the biogenesis steroid scandal, but has put up impressive numbers this season considering his age and recent time away from baseball (.278 AVG, 13 HR, 34 RBI). A-Rod joins a group of his own as he becomes the only player in MLB history with 3,000 hits, 2,000 RBIs, 600 Home Runs, and 300 steals. He is also the first player to join the 3,000 hit club since Derek Jeter did in 2011, and is the third player to join the club with a home run.
